SACRAMENTO–

Seth Mullen and his boy Phoenix have been puttering around Haggin Oaks for years.

“We’ve been coming here since he was 18 months. He’s six now. So that’s six years of memories,” Mullen said.

Still, Mullen says for the chance to make more memories courtside, he’s willing to see parts of Sacramento’s popular mini-course go.

Haggin Oaks is two courses, a driving range, putting green, pro-shop and all the to her amenities on about 300 acres of land. The 60 acres that would go to the investor group building the new arena lies along Business 80 West of Watt. One course would be untouched, another would lose a handful of holes, or have to be significantly redesigned.

Caroline Latzen doesn’t have the greatest handicap. She likes Haggin Oaks because she says it got kind courses for the less serious golfer.

But when it comes to swapping part of this place for a new arena downtown… “Well … I guess that’s up to the City,” she said.

And the City Council will decide on Tuesday.
