SACRAMENTO-

First, there was the fadeaway jumper that was Here We Stay. Next, the half court shot to build a new arena in downtown Sacramento, Here We Build. Today, overtime in the battle to keep the Sacramento Kings – Here We Buy.

“I’m so relieved that finally battle lines have been drawn. I’m so relieved we finally know who our enemy is,” radio and internet host Carmichael Dave told FOX40 on Monday.

As rumors of a deal to move the purple and black continue to swirl, the grassroots effort to keep the team is presenting a new case to the NBA, along with the would-be saviors/potential new owners of Ron Burkle and Mark Mastrov, the promise, once again, of butts in seats.

“Prospective owners and the NBA in general, to let them know that recent fan apathy has nothing do with hunger for this team. It has everything to do with lack of ownership and ownership’s commitment to Sacramento, ” said Carmichael Dave.

When you go to the ‘Here We Buy’ website, there are two options, fan or business. Once there, its the chance to make a pledge to buy season tickets or a sponsorship. Only hours after launching, it’s already up to nearly $6 million in pledges.

“The opportunity to be a part of a database that we will turn over to the Sacramento Kings upon completion of an arena deal or a purchase agreement for new owners,” Carmichael Dave said.

The ticket pricing model is based on a new downtown arena, much like the one in Orlando, home to the NBA Magic.

For Carmichael Dave, it’s the opening volley in the final battle over the Kings court.

“I understand why a lot of people think the Seattle stories are bad, they’re the opposite. We can finally get going on doing what our ultimate goal is — which is not just new owners, but the new arena.”
