The New York Times website was subject to a denial-of-service attack by unidentified hackers, the newspaper said Friday.
A company spokesperson was quoted by the paper as saying that “a small number of users” were unable to access the website and that the Times couldn’t confirm who was behind the attack.
Earlier on Friday, the Financial Times stated that it was hacked by the Syrian Electronic Army, a group that has been blamed for a number of recent attacks on the websites and social media accounts of news outlets.
Recently, outlets ranging from the Associated Press to E! Online to the satirical news site The Onion, have been subject to hacked social media accounts.
