Films by Robert Rodriquez continue to be on the move.
Luckily for fans of the director, Machete Kills is not moving quite as far away as Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, which was recently pushed back nearly one year from its original release date.
Open Road Films announced Thursday that Machete Kills, Rodriguez’s sequel to 2010’s Machete, would shift from a Sept. 13 release date to Oct. 4.

The Oct. 4 date was recently vacated by Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (which is co-directed by Rodriguez and Frank Miller) when The Weinstein Co.’s Dimension Films moved the gritty sequel to Aug. 22, 2014.
Machete Kills will open opposite Warner Bros.’ space thriller Gravity on Oct. 4.
With a screenplay by Kyle Ward and based on a story by Marcel Rodriguez and Robert Rodriguez, Machete Kills reunites audiences with the ex-Federale agent (Danny Trejo), who is recruited by the president to take down a madman revolutionary. The film also stars Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens and Cuba Gooding, Jr.
Machete Kills is produced by Robert Rodriguez, along with Aaron Kaufman and Iliana Nikolic through their QuickDraw Productions banner, Sergei Bespalov of Aldamisa Films, Alexander Rodnyansky of AR Films and Rick Schwartz of Overnight Films.
Open Road Films also announced a new date for Homefront, which was originally scheduled for Oct. 4. It will now hit theaters on Thanksgiving weekend, on Nov. 27.
Directed by Gary Fleder from a screenplay by Sylvester Stallone, the actioner follows a former DEA agent (Jason Statham) who moves to a new town after the death of his wife. But, he finds more trouble in than he expected in his new hometown. It also stars Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth and Frank Grillo.
Musical Black Nativity and animated pic Frozen are both scheduled for wide release on the same date.
