StudioCanal also has come on board to handle remaining international sales for the project and will be shopping the feature to buyers at Cannes.
Felix Herngren, creator of hit Swedish TV sitcom Solsidan, is directing The Hundred-Year-Old Man from a script he co-wrote with Hans Ingemansson.
Jonasson’s book, a best-seller across Europe with more than 5 million copies sold, is the story of a 100-year-old man who escapes from a nursing home and heads off on a monthlong road trip across Sweden, a journey that takes him back through the history of the 20th century. Hyperion has U.S. rights for the novel.
Sweden’s NICE Drama and FLX 2.0 are co-producing the film.
