ROME – Arnon Milchan, who produced a long series of Hollywood successes including Fight Club, L.A. Confidential, and the epic Once Upon a Time in America, will receive the career achievement prize at the Ischia Global Film & Music Fest, organizers announced.
In a statement, Milchan said the Ischia Legends Award was a “dream come true” for him, while Pascal Vicedomini, the festival’s founder, called the 68-year-old “one of the industry’s most prolific and successful producers.”
Milchan, who has more than 120 production credits to his name, earned an Oscar nomination in 1998 for L.A. Confidential.
The 11-year-old festival takes place on the picturesque island of Ischia, off the coast of Naples from July 13-21. Milchan will be honored on the penultimate day of the festival at the famous Villa Colombaia, where ground-breaking Italian director Luchino Visconti once lived.
At last year’s festival, the Ischia Legend Award went to Vittorio and Paolo Taviani, whose film, Cesare deve morire (Caesar Must Die) won the Golden Bear award in Berlin last year and went on to be selected as Italy’s nominee for the foreign language Oscar.
The festival’s full lineup is expected to be announced next month.
