While New Kids on the Block make headlines for Jonathan Knight’s surprising and sudden performance walk-off, fellow ‘90s-resurrected-boy band the Backstreet Boys have a bit of good news to announce: new music is on the way.
Nick Carter revealed that the group — recently brought back to completion with Kevin Richardson — is “90 percent done” with their latest album.
Carter also revealed that the new offering will include a track from longtime collaborator (and recently named THR hitmaker) Max Martin, who produced the band’s hit singles “I Want It That Way,” “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)” and “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).”

“It’s a smash,” Carter said of the new track, “a beautiful song.”
Aside from recording, Carter also is keeping busy with wedding planning and shopping three of his screenplays around Hollywood (one of which is reportedly a horror film, in which Carter would play the villain).
Meanwhile, Carter and fiancée Lauren Kitt, a fitness trainer, are exploring whether their nuptials could make for a TV special.
“There have been offers and opportunities to film the actual wedding, like a TV show,” said the 33-year-old. “I was up for it to a certain degree, but then at the same time, I might not even do that. We might just keep it private. We’ll see what’s up.”
Carter and Kitt have not yet set a wedding date but are thinking “early next year.”
