Honors:
Chuck Dages (pictured above), a longtime Warner Bros. exec, will be honored Wednesday at the Entertainment Technology Center @ USC’s Studio Technology Leaders Dinner. During the dinner, he will receive ETC’s inaugural Bob Lambert Technology Leadership Award, named in memory of the digital cinema pioneer and longtime Disney exec. The award recognizes a person whose contributions to the advancement of ETC inter-industry projects and industry needs at large has helped shape the future of entertainment technology.

Grover Crisp, executive vp of asset management, film restoration and digital mastering for Sony Pictures Entertainment was honored for outstanding achievement in the field of film restoration and preservation at the 10th Focal International Awards in London. Additionally, Sony’s 4K restoration of the 50th anniversary directors cut of David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia from 1962 took home the award for best archive restoration/oreservation title, which was restored under the direction of Crisp.

News From Dattner Dispoto and Associates’ clients: Production designer Carlos Menendez have been booked on the feature Rob the Mob. Jim Flynn will edit Nick Cassavetes’ The Other Woman, scheduled for a 2014 release. John Lindley will be the director of photography on St. Vincent of Van Nuys. Production designer Hannah Beachler has booked MGM’s The Town That Dreaded Sundown, a remake of the 1976 horror thriller that is being directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon.

Organization news:
American Cinema Editors has released the program for its debut of EditFest London, which will be held June 29 at the Ray Dolby Screening Room in Soho.
The program includes a TV editors panel featuring Frances Parker (Game of Thrones), Alexandra Mackie (Downton Abbey) and Oral Norrie Ottey (Generation Kill); and a “Dailies to Delivery” session with Oscar winner Chris Dickens (Slumdog Millionaire), Tracy Granger (Still Life), John Wilson (Billy Elliott), Eddie Hamilton (Kick-Ass 1 & 2), and moderator Mick Audsley (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). The day will conclude with a conversation with Anne V. Coates (pictured above), the Oscar-winning editor of Lawrence of Arabia, moderated by Oscar winner Tom Rolf (The Right Stuff). EditFest London is collaborating with the third annual London SuperMeet on June 28. SuperMeet attendees will receive a discount for EditFest.
Company Expansion:
Feature and commercial visual effects shop Shade VFX has decided to double its footprint with new space at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica. Current projects at Shade include The Wolverine and Echo. Additionally, its newest hire is visual effects producer Lisa Maher, who has been named business development executive for the four year-old company. Maher has worked with companies including Fuel VFX, Dr. D Studios, the previously named CIS Hollywood, and Rhythm & Hues.
