Behind the Visual Effects
Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful — director Sam Raimi's prequel to the story in 1939’s The Wizard of Oz — contains a whopping 1,500 visual effects shots, used to create dazzling environments, introduce CG characters and enhance the 3D cinematography.
Led by VFX supervisor Scott Stokdyk of Sony Pictures Imageworks, visual effects were created for Oz Imageworks, as well as Digiscope, Luma Pictures, Method, Evil Eye Pictures and Reliance MediaWorks.
