WEST SACRAMENTO-

The owner of Venera’s European Grocery in West Sacramento says the Monday morning firebombing of her shop was a hate crime.

“One day, he came in our store and said, ‘You know, you are Russian,'” shop owner Venera Pavluskin said.

Pavlusckin said the man who berated her with obscenities is the same man who threw a Molotov cocktail into her Harbor Boulevard market around 3 a.m. Monday.

The incident was captured on the store’s surveillance system.

West Sacramento Police say a number of reports have been filed for the store’s location in the past few months – including an assault that put Pavlusckin in the hospital. Her attacker is currently in Yolo County Jail.
