CITRUS HEIGHTS –

A Citrus Heights police officer shot and killed a car thief suspect early Thursday morning.

Officer Bryan Fritsch says police responded to a call of a suspicious person at the Glen Alta Drive and Debbie Ann Court intersection around 2 a.m.

When an officer arrived, he confronted a man matching a caller’s description of the suspects. Citrus Heights Police say the officer at some point with the suspect feared for his life, and opened fire.

The suspect who was shot later died at the hospital.

A second person in a second car was arrested for attempted vehicle theft.

No officers were injured during this incident, and the blocked-off section og Glen Alta Drive was reopened shortly before 5:30 p.m.
