Award-winning country music stars Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift were in fierce competition at last weekend’s American Country Music Awards. Both singers were up for album of the year and female vocalist of the year. They lost the latter to Miranda Lambert.
But before the show, the ladies tussled for the title of best-dressed on the arrivals red carpet.
Underwood broke out of her usual sparkle-plenty princess mode. Instead, she looked like a garden party on acid in a colorful oversized-floral photo print gown by India-born designer Naeem Khan, a designer whose clothes she has worn many times.
You may remember that Khan dressed first lady Michelle Obama for her Oscar 2013 appearance in a silver gown. Some of his other famous fashion fans include Eva Longoria, Penelope Cruz, Leighton Meester, Julie Bowen and Vanessa Hudgens.
Underwood also wore a pair of Jimmy Choo heels, a Jimmy Choo purse and a pair of David Yurman’s chandelier earrings.
By contrast, Swift went heavy metal, stepping bravely into a gold Game of Thrones-inspired embellished gown by Dolce & Gabbana. Thank goodness she didn’t try to sing while wearing it. It looked like it weighed a ton or two.
Wearing her hair in a sleek low ponytail, Swift also accessorized with Jimmy Choo heels and Norman Silverman earrings.
At least they have the same taste in footwear.
So we gotta ask: Who do you think wore the best dress?
