YOLO COUNTY-

After hours of searching for missing 37-year-old Rico Omar Harris on Tuesday, the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team call it a day.

“We’ve searched the immediate area of Low Water Bridge which is probably a couple of square miles between here and Windy Point Bridge which is down the road about a mile and a half,” Sergeant Kurt Zeiler, of the Yolo County Sheriff’s Office told FOX40.

The former Globetrotter’s Nissan Sedan was found off State Route 16 near Rumsey. Deputies said they don’t suspect foul play, and mental illness may not play a part in this mystery.

They add on Oct. 10, Harris traveled from Southern California to Seattle to visit his girlfriend.

“He said he wanted to check out the mountains that he did want to check out the mountains on the way so that triggered something way later,” Jennifer Song, Harris’ girlfriend, explained.

Duane Thibault, an Esparto resident, knows the area well and claims while it’s easy to wander off, he doubts the 6’9, 280 pound former athlete would have any trouble navigating these paths.

“Being that, that big of a person and probably as athletic as he was, this is easy for anybody like that,” Duane Thibault told us.

Harris remains unaccounted for and deputies prepare for another day of searching.

Yolo County Deputies is asking anyone who may have seen Harris in the area to call 530-668-5280. He is African American, 6’9″ and weighs about 280 pounds.
