In addition to Efron, the film stars Friday Night Lights alum Michael B. Jordan and 21 & Over‘s Miles Teller as guys who vow to stay single to support a friend still recovering from a recent breakup but end up falling in love. The movie is writer-director Tom Gormican‘s first feature.
Jason Barrett, Efron’s manager and partner in his Warner Bros.-based Ninjas Runnin’ Wild production company, is among the film’s executive producers.

“We are all excited to be involved with Are We Officially Dating? and all the rising talent in front of and behind the camera,” FilmDistrict CEO Peter Schlessel said in a statement. “Tom wrote a script that is as funny as it is heartfelt, and we are pleased to release his directorial debut.”
Treehouse Pictures president Justin Nappi added, “We couldn’t be happier that FilmDistrict will be releasing Are We Officially Dating? in the U.S., ensuring that Tom Gormican’s highly relatable comedy with an amazingly talented cast has the chance to connect with the largest possible audience.”
FilmDistrict is set to release the sequel to its blockbuster horror film Insidious in September. Treehouse Pictures recently produced the Richard Gere starrer Arbitrage as well as another Zac Efron movie, At Any Price.
