Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson's Fast & Furious 6 has topped this week's US box office.

The Justin Lin-directed film opened at number one with record-breaking Memorial Day weekend sales, earning $98.5 million, and knocking last week's number one movie Star Trek to third place with $38 million.

Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis's Hangover 3 debuted at number two with $42.4 million, while the Dreamworks animated film Epic, starring Colin Farrell and Amanda Seyfried, also made its debut, earning $34.2 million to make fourth place.

The Great Gatsby slipped a further three spots to number six, earning $13.7 million.

Meanwhile, the wildly popular Iron Man 3 dipped from second to fifth place, making $19.4 million. So far, the Marvel film has grossed a total of $367.5 million.

The Croods holds on, dropping from five to nine, with Tom Cruise's sci-fi thriller Oblivion closing the list out at tenth place.
