On June 12 — TV Night at UCLA’s 22nd Annual Film Festival — the school will unveil an unique project: doubleblind, a 42-minute, five-act TV pilot created under the guidance of TV veterans Rod Holcomb (ER, Lost, Elementary) and Beau Marks (The Hunt for Red October, Die Hard, Straw Dogs).
“This special project advances our vision and long range plans by providing students from writing, acting, directing, producing, cinematography, costume and production design, and music a highly collaborative experience to create a first-of-its-kind television project unique to any film/theater school in the world,” says Teri Schwartz, dean of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television (TFT).

Forty-seven graduate and undergraduate students were involved in the 37-week production, learning the essentials of advanced blocking, staging, script breakdowns, directing, cinematography and producing.
The pilot, written by graduate students A.J. Marchisello and Teresa Sullivan, is a sci-fi thriller about six graduate students who sign up for a social experiment only to discover that they have been genetically altered in vitro. They band together to expose and destroy the mastermind behind the ongoing illegal experiments before it’s too late.
UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television was No. 4 on THR‘s list of Top 25 Film Schools in 2012 (up from No. 5 in 2011), and its drama school, on THR‘s 25 Best Drama Schools list in 2012, makes the list again in 2013.
