U.K. celebrity publicist Max Clifford on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to 11 charges of “indecent” assault on women.
The 70-year-old PR man, whose clients have included Simon Cowell, previously called all the allegations “completely false.”
In December, Clifford was arrested and questioned as part of a probe into sexual assaults committed by late TV host Jimmy Savile and others. Last month, he was charged with committing 11 assaults on seven people between 1966 and 1985. He was not charged in the case of three other allegations.
Britain’s so-called Crown Prosecution Service said then that there was “sufficient evidence,” and the legal case was in the public interest. Among the charges are one offense of “indecent assault” on a 14-year-old girl in 1966. The other victims were between the ages of 15 and 19, according to authorities.
Clifford appeared at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday. The BBC and other U.K. TV networks reported his plea.
