SACRAMENTO —

There is a new more luxurious way of getting home safe after a night out, it called Uber.

The Downtown Sacramento Partnership is joining forces with Uber during its Sac City Sips happy hour to promote a safe night out.

“As we launched again, Uber approached us and said we would love to partner with you. You make sure that folks that are partaking in happy hour get home safe. They have given us a promo code that allows first time users in Sacramento to get a $30 credit. It also allows you to not have to carry cash, if you just connect your credit card to the application, the drivers do not accept cash at all. You don’t have to worry about tip or anything, that’s all included,” Said Megan Garcia of Downtown Sacramento Partnership.

Not your typical taxi ride, Uber is a personal driver service, sporting black town-cars and SUV’s.

“I would rather roll up in a sexy car or roll home in a sexy car, especially at the end of the night,” Said patron Ginna Jester.

Sac City Sips is a Wednesday night happy hour promotion of downtown restaurants and bars.

“It brings a lot of people down to K street. And giving people who haven’t been to our restaurants before an opportunity to come in and get something of value, and support our local breweries and local businesses,” Said Mike Levasseur, manager of Pizza Rock.

“I think anything that the city of Sacramento can do to get people out to get culture moving to get people interacting, is perfect,” Jester said.
