The California State Fair appears to be doing well this year.

CEO Rick Pickering said 50,000 people attended the fair Saturday, while 40,000 were expected on Sunday.

“Considering it was a little warm, it was perfect fair weather. People kept coming out and having a great time,” said Pickering

Pickering says fair numbers have been down for the past few years, but he expects this year to be better than expected.

“Total attendance will continue on the downswing, but the experience of the public and the extended stay of the public is actually on an upswing,” said Pickering

About 700,000 people attended the fair last year.
