SACRAMENTO–

An Ohio man wanted for shaking an infant to death was arrested in Sacramento Sunday morning.

Walker allegedly shook his girlfriend’s 10-month-old boy to death while babysitting in Ohio back on Wednesday. He called 911 to report the incident, but left the scene before authorities showed up.

The infant was taken to the hospital but died a day later. Injuries to the boy are said to be consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

Ohio U.S. Marshalls learned that 44-year-old Wayne Walker would be traveling by Greyhound bus to California from Ohio. Authorities then started working with Sacramento-area U.S. Marshalls to arrest Walker.

U.S. Marshalls and Sacramento Police were waiting for Walker when he showed up by bus around 12 p.m. at the Richards Boulevard Greyhound station. He was then arrested without incident, authorities note.

Walker is being held at Sacramento County Jail until he is extradited back to Ohio.
