Paramount Pictures has come on board to distribute select titles from Swiss independent Falcom Media in Germany, the companies announced Friday.
The first Falcom title Paramount will release under the new deal is the comedy 21 & Over from The Hangover scribes Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, which premieres in Germany on July 25. Paramount Germany will bow the sex-addition comedy Thanks for Sharing, starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Marc Ruffalo, another Falcom pick-up, later this year, though no release date has yet been set.

“We are pleased to be working with (Falcom boss) Andreas Fallscheer, (distribution, marketing and acquisitions head) Christiane Sommermeier and the Falcom team,” said Sven Sturm, managing director of Paramount Pictures Germany. “We are convinced that (in Paramount) Falcom has found an optimal partner for the distribution of their commercially-oriented titles.”
The Paramount deal will only apply to select bigger budget mainstream titles from Falcom. The remainder of the company’s slate will continue to go through German independent distributor 24 Bilder.
Falcom is not alone in looking to a studio partner to handle distribution duties for its major releases in Germany. Splendid Film has a similar arrangement with 20th Century Fox in Germany, and Berlin-based X Verleih relies on Warner Bros. Germany for such booking and billing duties.
