Philippe Andre’s Delicate Gravity (Delicate Gravite), starring Yvan Attal and Anne Parillaud as two lonely people who meet because of a cell phone call to a wrong number, received the Best of the Festival Award at the the 2013 Palm Springs International ShortFest, which concluded Sunday.
The jury gave the Panavision Grand Jury Award to another French film, Lucas Delangle’s Stranger Brothers (Faux Freres) and its Future Filmmaker Award to Erick Schmitt’s Rhino Full Throttle (Nashorn Im Galopp).
Awards also were presented to Jeremy Brock’s Walking the Dogs, for live action short; Matthew Van Dyke’s Not Anymore: A Story of Revolution, documentary short; and Guillaume Blanchet’s A Girl Named Elastika, animation short.
The festival presented 330 short films, chosen from more than 3,000 submissions. A total of $110,000 in prizes, including $16,000 in cash awards, were handed out in 19 categories.
