Fox has firmed up the rest of its midseason plans. After announcing premiere dates for Empire, American Idol and Glee, the network has found slots for everything else on its bench — and ordered a new unscripted project.
World’s Funniest Fails (working title) bows Jan. 16, ahead of Glee. Based on YouTube channel FailArmy, each week finds a panel of comedians analyzing viral clips of people epically failing.
New comedies The Last Man on Earth and Weird Loners also have found points of entry on the schedule, as has drama Backstrom. The latter, from Bones creator Hart Hanson, bows Thursday, Jan. 22. It will air in the post-American Idol slot.
As for the new half-hours, The Last Man on Earth gets a one-hour debut Sunday, March 1, at 9 p.m. The following week it moves into the 9:30 p.m. slot for the rest of its 13-episode run. As for Weird Loners, the other short-order will move into the post-New Girl slot on Tuesday, March 31. Presumably, this will be after The Mindy Project has aired its entire 21-episode fourth season.
As for returning series, Fox is not missing a beat between the second and third outings of MasterChef Junior. The competition, which returned to series highs in its Tuesday move, will be back on Jan. 6. The Following gets a two-hour return on Monday, March 2, before settling into the 8 p.m. slot the following week. It will be paired with Gotham once Sleepy Hollow‘s run is over.
Bones comes back from its winter hiatus on March 26, occupying the same Thursday time slot, and Hell’s Kitchen resumes with another cycle on March 3.
