SAN QUENTIN-

California’s “Night Stalker”, found guilty of a dozen murders in the late 1980s, has died.

Richard Ramirez died of natural causes early Friday morning, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. He was pronounced dead at Marin General Hospital.

Ramirez was found guilty in 1989 of 13 counts of murder, and other counts including attempted murder, sexual assault and burglary.

His crimes happened in Southern California; in most cases Ramirez would enter through open windows or doors to reach his victims.

He was caught in 1985 by an angry mob who identified him and beat him while Ramirez was allegedly trying to steal a woman’s car.

After his conviction, he served time on Death Row at San Quentin.
