Former MSNBC anchor David Shuster will join Al Jazeera America as one of the channel’s New York anchors, it was announced today.
“From breaking news to in-depth reports, David has exactly the kind of experience we want to bring to all of our broadcasts,” said Marcy McGinnis, senior vice president newsgathering for Al Jazeera America, in a statement. “David will be an integral member of our New York reporting team when we launch later this month.”
Shuster most recently worked as a correspondent at Current TV, leading the channel’s coverage of the 2012 presidential race.
Prior to that, he was a primetime anchor at MSNBC after stints at Fox News, CNN and an ABC affiliate in Little Rock, Ark.
“I’ve followed Al Jazeera since I covered the Iraq War in 2003 from Doha,” said Shuster. “The organization’s fearless efforts to give a voice to the voiceless have always struck a chord in me. It’s an honor to help carry on that unique mission on an American channel and for an American audience.”
Shuster won an Emmy for investigative reporting.
