Adrien Brody, Jordana Brewster and Akon are joining Hayden Christensen in the indie action thriller American Heist.
Heist is a remake of the 1959 Steve McQueen movie The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery.
Sarik Andreasyan is directing. Tove Christensen, Gevond Andreasyan, Georgy Malkov and Vladimir Poliakov are producing the movie, which begins shooting June 24.
According to the producers, the film tells the story of two brothers with checkered pasts, one struggling on the road to normalcy, the other just released from prison. Their lives intertwine when one drags the other into an ill-fated bank robbery spearheaded by a gang of dangerous criminals, testing the loyalty of their sibling bond and how far they will go for greed and family.
Brody will join Hayden Christensen as an exec producer. Joseph Nasser and Jack Nasser of Nasser Entertainment Group and JoJo Ryder are also exec producing.
Financing is through Glacier Films and producer-financier Warren T. Goz. Heist is serving as the inaugural production from Glacier, which aims to produce 11 feature films over the next three years.
Paradigm represents the domestic distribution rights, with Voltage handling international sales.
Brody, who will be seen in the upcoming HBO documentary Love, Marilyn and recently wrapped Wes Anderson‘s Grand Budapest Hotel, and Akon are repped by Paradigm. Brewster is repped by CAA.
