SACRAMENTO—

CHP Officer Jeffery Closson was arrested by Sacramento Police Friday for a sexual battery at the Arden Fair Mall.

Clossen was picked from a photo lineup by the 22-year old disabled young man he’s accused of molesting.

‘You teach your kids when they’re growing up, you teach them if they’re in trouble to find a police officer. They’ll help you, they’ll keep you safe,” said Jim Garcia, the victim’s dad.

We first met Jim and his son Ryan the day of the alleged battery last month. The 22-year-old suffered a brain injury from a catastrophic car accident when he was 15. It left him disabled.

The alleged incident happened inside the Macy’s men’s bathroom.

“You’re in a public restroom. Preying on someone like him. It’s disgusting,” Jim said.

The suspect had allegedly touched Ryan while touching himself. Today, all the pieces came together.

“You know what you did. Ryan knows what you did. Be a man. You’re supposed to be out there protecting people,” Jim said.

Surveillance shows the suspect drive into the mall, get out of his vehicle, walk in and out of Macy’s then back to his car.

“To find out this guy was a police officer, shocking. Ryan was just floored. He just couldn’t believe it,” Jim said.

Jim credits Arden’s multi-million surveillance system for helping catch the fallen officer.
