As Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, remains at large, having led police on a manhunt through Watertown, Mass., Thursday evening into Friday morning, what appears to be his Twitter account is providing a small look inside his mind.
On the day of the Boston Marathon, during which Tsarnaev and his 26-year-old brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, allegedly planted two bombs that killed three people and injured more than 170, the teen quoted a lyric from Jay-Z‘s 2001 single “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love).”
“Ain’t no love in the heart of the city, stay safe people,” he wrote at approximately 5:04 p.m. ET, according to tweets posted on Gawker.
The original song “Ain’t No Love in the Heart of the City” was recorded and released by Whitesnake in 1980. It has been sampled and covered dozens of times over, perhaps most notably by Hov.

Jay-Z’s 2001 track, produced by Kanye West, sampled a rendition of the song that had been recorded by Bobby Bland. The new version quickly permeated pop culture as it was featured in the trailer for the 2007 film American Gangster, in a 2011 Chrysler commercial, a 2013 Crown Royal commercial and as the theme song for CBS’s short-lived 2012 series NYC 22.
Tsarnaev also appears to have been a fan of West, as he quoted a lyric from the prolific rapper’s “Mercy.”
“So much hate I need an AK,” Tsarnaev posted, referencing Big Sean‘s verse on the track.
Among the other artists quoted on his feed are Michael Jackson (“Smooth Criminal”), Peter Frampton (“Baby, I Love Your Way”) and Paul McCartney (“Maybe I’m Amazed”).
Tsarnaev, alongside his brother Tamerlan, led police on a manhunt from MIT through Watertown on Thursday night, just hours after their images were released to the public by officials. Tamerlan died in a shootout early Friday morning, but Dzhokhar managed to escape.
