Cumpsty is a Broadway veteran whose previous productions with Roundabout include Sunday in the Park with George and The Constant Wife. An Oscar nominee for Martin Scorsese‘s The Color of Money, Mastrantonio’s Broadway credits include a Tony-nominated performance in Man of La Mancha. Nivola was last on Broadway in 1995 opposite Helen Mirren in A Month in the Country, also for Roundabout. And Rees won both Tony and Olivier awards for his role in the landmark production of The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. More recently, he co-directed the play Peter and the Starcatcher, which won five Tonys in 2012.
Lindsay Posner will direct the production of The Winslow Boy, which was first seen at the Old Vic Theatre in London with a different cast. It begins previews on Sept. 20 at the American Airlines Theatre, with opening night set for Oct. 17. The limited engagement runs through Dec. 1.
The Broadway cast also includes Zachary Booth, Spencer Davis Milford, Chandler Williams, Meredith Forlenza, Stephen Pilkington and Henry Russell.
The Rattigan play was filmed in 1948 by Anthony Asquith, starring Robert Donat, Margaret Leighton and Cedric Hardwicke. David Mamet directed a 1999 screen remake with Nigel Hawthorne, Rebecca Pidgeon and Jeremy Northam.
