LONDON – U.K. public broadcaster BBC on Monday said that Charlotte Moore has been appointed to the post of acting controller of flagship network BBC One.
The news comes after last week’s appointment of Danny Cohen, who used to oversee the channel, to the post of director of television at the BBC.

Cohen announced the appointment of Moore in an email to BBC staff Monday morning. He will start his new role on May 7.
Moore has been serving as the BBC’s commissioning editor of documentaries. She will be acting controller during the hiring process of a permanent executive.
“Charlotte is a fantastic creative leader, and I’m confident she will do a great job as interim controller following her spell recently in charge of the BBC Daytime portfolio,” said Cohen. “The most important thing is that we carry on with business as usual, and Charlotte will be empowered to make commissioning decisions and maintain BBC One’s momentum.”

BBC One remains the most watched network in the U.K. Last year, it had a banner year in the ratings thanks in part to its coverage of the London Summer Olympics.
Cohen’s appointment last week was the last major executive decision that new BBC director general Tony Hall had been looking to make.
