Kings of Leon and The Flaming Lips have been confirmed to perform at the Rock for Oklahoma Benefit on July 23 in Oklahoma City, along with a full cast of big name rock performers.
“We couldn’t be more proud to lend a hand to home state,” Jared Followill, bassist for Kings of Leon, said. “This is the least we could do.”

The concert’s proceeds will benefit the victims of the F5 tornado that hit Moore, Okla., earlier this spring. The disaster killed 24 people and tallied up around $2 billion in damages.
“Shakespeare said ‘It is not enough to help the needy up, but to support them after’ and in our small way we are trying to not just be here at the moment of immediate need, but to stay and help with the rebuilding,” Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips said. “After all, this is our home and they are us and we are them.”
The concert, which will be held at the Chesapeake Energy Arena, will also feature indie rock veterans Built to Spill, legendary singer-songwriter Jackson Browne, and more special guests to be announced later.
Tickets are available now for $35 and $50 via ticketmaster.com or by phone at 1.800.745.3000.
