Good news, Veronica Mars fans: Another major character is set to return.
Creator Rob Thomas said Wednesday night in an e-mail to contributors who donated to the film’s Kickstarter campaign that Tina Majorino will reprise her role as Cindy “Mac” Mackenzie in the upcoming movie.

Majorino appeared in 33 of the show’s 64 episodes, playing Neptune High School’s resident computer genius and friend to Veronica (Kristen Bell). She started out as a recurring before being promoted to regular in the show’s third season.
“I really wanted Tina in Veronica Mars,” Thomas wrote in the e-mail. “To say I wrote Mac with Tina in mind would be an understatement. I wrote Mac for Tina, and Tina only. Veronica needed a female friend, and a Q to her Bond. Tina felt like just the sort of girl that Veronica would like and respect. I couldn’t be more pleased that she’ll be with us for the movie.”
Majorino joins other original stars including Bell, Jason Dohring, Percy Daggs III, Chris Lowell, Enrico Colantoni and Francis Capra in the movie. The series ran from 2004-07 on The CW.
Majorino also has a recurring role on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Heather Brooks and co-stars in TNT’s upcoming drama Legends.
Her other credits include Napoleon Dynamite and True Blood.
