The Crystal & Lucy Awards, which honor exemplary women in the entertainment industry, has announced this year’s recipients.
The honorees, led by Laura Linney, the stars of Mad Men, George Lucas and Sofia Coppola, will be celebrated at the Crystal & Lucy Awards dinner, held June 12 at the Beverly Hilton.
“It’s a landmark year for Women in Film, celebrating our 40-year history,” said Cathy Schulman, president of Women in Film, Los Angeles. “Our six honorees illustrate the wide spectrum of creative innovation coming from women, and it’s a privilege to be commemorating all of their successes.”
Added Iris Grossman, president emeritus of Women in Film, Los Angeles, “The remarkable honorees have enriched our lives over the years, and it is especially exciting to honor them during our 40th anniversary.”
Linney, of Showtime’s outgoing The Big C: Hereafter, will receive the Crystal Award for Excellence in Film.
The female stars of AMC’s Mad Men — Christina Hendricks, January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, Jessica Pare and Kiernan Shipka — will be honored with the Lucy Award for Excellence in Television.
Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit), who next appears in Summit’s sci-fi adaptation Ender’s Game and Romeo and Juliet, has been tapped to receive the Women in Film Max Mara Face of the Future Award.
Sofia Coppola, writer-director of upcoming film The Bling Ring, will be honored with the Dorothy Arzner Directors Award.
Star Wars guru George Lucas, who will marry longtime girlfriend Mellody Hobson on June 29, will receive the Norma Zarky Humanitarian Award. He announced plans to build the Lucas Cultural Arts Museum, which will emphasize illustrative, digital, cinematic and animation art.
Cinematographer Rachel Morrison, who worked on Sundance sensation Fruitvale Station, will receive the Kodak Vision Award.
