Willie Robertson, congressman?
According to a report in the Washington Examiner, a group of Republicans is trying to convince the star of A&E’s hit reality series Duck Dynasty to run for political office in his home state of Louisiana.
The seat they want him to fill is that of retiring Republican Rep. Rodney Alexander, who represents the 5th District, in which Robertson is a constituent. A special election will be held to fill the seat, which Alexander will vacate at the end of September.

Alexander is said to be friendly with Robertson, who is the CEO of the duck-call and hunting companies Duck Commander and Buck Commander.
“My boys want to run Willie Robertson for the seat,” a “key outside adviser to House GOP leadership” told the Examiner.
Another GOP official told the Examiner that it’s unlikely Robertson would be interested in leaving TV and his businesses: “Why would a multimillionaire TV sensation give up that work to run for a congressional seat?”
Robertson’s rep has not yet commented on the Washington Examiner report.
Earlier this year, The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that the stars of Duck Dynasty were engaged in a salary standoff that was holding up a fourth-season renewal of the show.

Season three of Duck Dynasty bowed in February to a whopping 8.6 million viewers, while April’s season finale grew to a record 9.6 million viewers, topping all TV shows for the night, including American Idol.
Last week, ABC announced that Robertson and his uncle Si Robertson, also featured on Duck Dynasty, will make their acting debuts on the Tim Allen comedy Last Man Standing. It’s unclear if they guys will be playing themselves as plot details are being kept under wraps.
