NBC will give its buzziest new drama, the James Spader espionage thriller Blacklist the enviable post-Voice time slot this fall. The network also will shift veteran comedy Parks and Recreation to the lead-off slot Thursdays at 8 p.m. as it attempts to build a new generation of “Must See TV” comedies with three new half-hours on the night: Welcome to the Family; Sean Hayes‘ Sean Saves the World and The Michael J. Fox Show.
Parenthood will move to Thursday’s at 10 p.m. And J.J. Abrams‘ hit freshman drama Revolution will move to Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Friday once again will be home to Grimm, with similar genre entries Dracula and Crossbones following it at 10 p.m. in the fall and midseason, respectively.
Dramas Believe and Crisis will be held until midseason, when NBC will have a robust promotional platform with the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. The network again will attempt to use The Voice to lift two new comedies — About a Boy and The Family Guide — on Tuesdays at 9 and 9:30 p.m., the same hour that saw canceled comedies Go On and The New Normal struggle this past season.
Also set for midseason, though not yet on the schedule, are dramas Chicago PD – a spinoff of Dick Wolf‘s Chicago Fire – and The Night Shift, new comedy Undateable and the 13-episode order of Community. Of course, any of those shows could be used to fill schedule holes before midseason.
