TORONTO –Corus Entertainment’s W Network has not followed the short-lived The Job on CBS in creating a reality series that sees unemployed contestants compete for a job.
The feel-good Be The Boss Canada series instead sees Canadians pitted against one another for a promotion from franchise-based companies like Pizza, Pizza, Anytime Fitness and Pita Pit.
The contest ends with one employee earning a promotion and the other the keys to run their very own franchise.
The workplace competition series is based on the format from Undercover Boss shingle Studio Lambert, and is produced by Alliance Films, which also makes Undercover Boss Canada.
The first episodes of the Canadian series are set to launch on June 6, with Thomas Howe executive producing.
A&E has produced its own Be The Boss series for the U.S. market.
