The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced Wednesday the first nods from this year’s Emmys, with several juried winners taking trophies in animation, costumes and documentary categories.
Portlandia, The Simpsons and Adventure Time are among the winning series, with panels of professionals the different categories’ peer groups screening and selecting, in several instances, multiple winners.
The no-nominee categories — Individual Achievement in Animation, Costumes for a Variety Program or Special and Exceptional Merit in Documentary Filmmaking — produced 10 victors between them, each of which earned unanimous approval from their peers.
