MODESTO–

The body of a man was found in a West Modesto canal Tuesday morning. Police are still investigating the circumstances of his death.

A passerby spotted the body a little after 7 a.m. The canal is Vernon and Chicago avenues.

The body was in a couple of feet of water, with dive team members having to help get the body out.

Authorities have already cleared the scene, but the investigation is ongoing. They are not sure if it was just a homeless man or if foul play was involved.
