ROSEVILLE –

Bayside Church in Granite Bay announced on Wednesday the purchase of 60 acres of land north of Interstate 80.

A new church campus will be built on 30 acres of the newly purchased property at Highway 65 and Blue Oaks Boulevard in Roseville. The church is exploring options for the remaining portion of the land.

The new Bayside location will not replace the current one on Sierra College Boulevard. The two will work together serving the communities of Roseville, Rocklin and the surrounding area.

The need for additional space arose in recent years as Bayside has grown to the point where it serves 10,000 worshippers among eight services per weekend. The church parking lot on Sierra College Boulevard is known to fill up on Sundays.  An auxiliary lot and shuttle service handle the overflow.

According to Bayside, one third of the church’s Granite Bay members currently live on the north side of I-80 where the new church campus will be built.

Specific terms of the sale were not made public on Wednesday. The land was acquired through a combination of loans and generous donations.

Ground-breaking is expected to happen in 3 to 5 years. In the meantime, Bayside will begin serving the community north of I-80 this fall inside a Rocklin office space near the newly acquired property.
