As any loyal Trekkie knows, there’s plenty of comedy to be had in Star Trek. Who doesn’t get a kick out of Bones’ love affair with complaining or Spock failing to grasp the subtleties of human interaction?
But the Internet has boldly taken Trek comedy to new heights. And in honor of Star Trek Into Darkness hitting theaters this week, Heat Vision looks at some of the clever videos featuring the Enterprise crew.

In an ad for Star Trek: The Video Game, Shatner and the Lizard-like Gorn captain from the 1967 “Arena” episode get in a fight and learn they don’t quite have the same moves they once did.
Boldly Boring
The Internal Revenue Service got in some hot water in March when it was revealed the IRS had spent $60,000 on training videos parodying Trek and Gilligan’s Island. The video isn’t particularly funny – unless you’re into bureaucratic procedures – but William Shatner’s terse review earned it a spot on this list.
“So I watched that IRS video. I am appalled at the utter waste of US tax dollars,” Shatner tweeted. The IRS has since apologized for the training video.
