Apple TV and Xbox 360 amped up their live television offerings through separate deals announced Tuesday.
Apple added apps from the Weather Channel, Vevo, Smithsonian and, most notably, live programming from the Disney Channel and Disney XD through its “Watch”authenticated television service.
Disney said it provided on Apple TV live network access 24 hours a day and an extensive on-demand offering for customers who have access through television providers like Comcast, FiOS, Cablevision and others.

Separately, Time Warner Cable said Tuesday it has launched an app for Xbox 360 that will turn the video-game console into a box delivering 300 channels of live television programming from the likes of AMC, Bravo, Cartoon Network, CNN and HGTV.
The product also allows users to navigate through channels through voice and gesture via Microsoft’s Kinect gadget.
Access to the live TV channels through Xbox 360 require a Time Warner Cable video subscription, just as the Disney-Apple TV deal requires an existing subscription to a TV provider.
“The Xbox 360 community is incredibly passionate, and we know this is something they’ve been looking forward to,” wrote Time Warner Cable senior vp and general manager of video Mike Angus in a blog post Tuesday.
