Nigeria: Rural Youths, Women Empowered in Cassava Value Chain

Umuahia — Efforts are being made to ensure that the benefits of the ongoing agricultural transformation agenda (ATA) of the federal government penetrate to the rural communities by empowering youths and women thereby enhancing the economic wellbeing of the rural dwellers.

To this end the House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture organised a six-day training programme for youths and women drawn from 11 autonomous communities of Nkporo in Ohafia local government of Abia state. The beneficiaries, numbering over 50, were trained in cassava processing and value chain addition.
