U.S. networks are gearing up for a media frenzy when the news breaks that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has given birth to a child. Cable news and broadcast networks have sent correspondents to London and are prepping specials and additional coverage.
NBC News has dispatched Today news anchor Natalie Morales and Nightly News correspondent Kate Snow to London in preparation for the birth. “London Calling. See you from there whenever there’s finally a royal bundle,” tweeted Snow on Monday.

The network also has correspondents Keir Simmons, Michelle Kosinski and Martin Fletcher — formerly NBC News’ Tel Aviv bureau chief — reporting in London. “The Queen says she is hoping the royal baby is born soon – because she is about to go on holiday… me too!,” tweeted Simmons on Wednesday.
ABC News currently has Good Morning America weekend anchor Bianna Golodryga and correspondent Lama Hasan in London. Correspondent Amy Robach is set to travel to the U.K. after the news breaks, a spokesperson said. And, in New York, Dr. Jennifer Ashton, the network’s senior medical correspondent, will contribute to a special report on ABC News.
A CBS News spokesperson said the network will have its London-based correspondents reporting but will not have a special report dedicated. The network aired a Wednesday segment titled “Royal Baby Past Its Due Date,” with newly named correspondent Jericka Duncan reporting in New York.
On cable news, Fox News anchor Martha McCallum has broadcast from London and will anchor coverage. “Just arrived in London to cover the Royal Birth @FoxNews Hope #Kate is not late!” wrote McCallum on Twitter on Sunday. Fox News also will have local correspondent Amy Kellogg reporting when the news arrives.
CNN is planning to air a special, Will and Kate Plus One, on Thursday anchored by the network’s New Day morning show host Kate Bolduan that will feature interviews with relatives and friends close to the royal family. The special will include a contribution from Katie Nicholl, the network’s royal commentator (also a correspondent for The Mail on Sunday).
HLN won’t be sending correspondents to London; instead, it will rely on talent from its sister network, CNN, for coverage, a spokesperson said. No special reports are planned on HLN.

Meanwhile, E! News has been prepping for the royal birth for well over a month. The network already has aired a special and will follow with A Royal Family: E! News Special when the news is confirmed, a spokesperson said. E! News host Catt Sadler along with correspondent Melanie Bromley will be reporting in London.
On Wednesday, Bromley tweeted an update on the beat. “There would be a funny side somewhere…#RoyalBabyWatch – world’s media may be waiting at wrong hospital,” she wrote, linking to a Telegraph article.
