Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles has fired six people for “inappropriately” accessing patients medical records over the course of the week of June 18 – 24, the hospital said in a statement.
Fourteen medical records were accessed although five of the six individuals who looked up the records only viewed the file of one patient.
Kim Kardashian, who gave birth to her daughter, North West, on June 15 at the medical center, was among the patients notified by Cedars-Sinai of accessed records, according to TMZ. The boyfriend of the reality TV star, Kanye West, was present at the hospital for the birth.

Cedars-Sinai has launched an investigation and, out of an “abundance of caution,” will notify law enforcement authorities about potential criminal behavior. The hospital said it already had notified the patients and expressed “deep apologies” for the breach of privacy.
“At Cedars-Sinai, we have a high standard for security, and in this case that standard was violated. Unauthorized access to any patient’s medical record is, quite simply, completely unacceptable,” the hospital said in a statement. “In this case, a few individuals did not live up to our expectations.”
Four of the six individuals who were fired were described as “employees of private offices of community physicians with medical staff privileges at Cedars-Sinai.” The other two who were fired were an unpaid student research assistant and a medical assistant employed by an outpatient office.
The firings were first reported by the Los Angeles Times.
