TORONTO – Claire Freeland is leaving Rogers Media Television as director of original programming.
The TV network is looking for Freeland’s replacement after she ramped up Rogers’ TV development campaign during the last two years.
Freeland will remain on board at Rogers Media until the end of September.
“Claire has been a wonderful asset to Rogers Media and we wish her all the best,” said Malcolm Dunlop, executive vice president of programming and operations at Rogers Media.
There was no word on where the veteran Canadian TV programmer will land as she plots her next course.
Freeland oversaw original Canadian indie program commissions at the broadcaster, which included developing new drama, comedy and reality series for TV properties like the City conventional network and the OLN, Bio, G4 and FX Canada cable channels.
Series developed under Freeland’s watch included the homegrown comedies Seed and Package Deal, and Mother Up!, the Eva Longoria-starrer that debuts in early 2014.
On the reality side, Freeland spawned Storage Wars Canada, which she is executive producing, and The Bachelor Canada.
Rogers’ TV properties include five City local TV stations and another five OMNI-branded multicultural TV stations.
