The first U.K. teaser trailer for The Weinstein Co.’s new movie about Nelson Mandela, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, has been released.
In the teaser, a voice-over from Idris Elba‘s Mandela plays during a sweeping shot of Elba and a group of young children walking up a massive hill.
In the narration, Elba says, “I have walked a long walk to freedom. It has been a long road, and it’s not over yet. No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin. People learn to hate. They can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart.”

The movie tells the story of the anti-apartheid leader from his childhood to his inauguration as the first openly elected, black president of South Africa.
The Weinstein Co. is set to release the Justin Chadwick-directed film, co-starring Naomie Harris, in the U.S. on November 29.
It’s scheduled to be released in the U.K. on Jan. 3, 2014.
Mandela, 94, is still in critical condition after spending more than a month in the hospital.
