MOSCOW — Finland’s largest national film festival, Helsinki’s Love & Anarchy, will open next month with a screening of Cannes Palme d’Or winner Blue is the Warmest Color.
Abdellatif Kechiche‘s love story of two young women won praise from critics and audiences worldwide for his “groundbreaking cinematic treatment of love and sex,” festival organizers said Monday.

Gala screenings of Wong Kar-wai‘s The Grandmaster, about the legendary Kung-fu master Ip Man, played by Tony Leung, and Finnish director Dome Karukoski‘s intense neo-Nazi drama Heart of a Lion, will also be included in the festival.
Closing Love & Anarchy this year is Noah Baumbach‘s black-and-white comedy Frances Ha, starring Greta Gerwig as a young dancer who tries, at times desperately, to find her place in New York City.
Other events announced Monday for Finland’s largest annual movie showcase include a Spotlight sidebar featuring Gus Van Sant‘s Promised Land and Norwegian director Erik Skjolbjaerg‘s Pioneer, along with a documentary section that includes Joshua Oppenheimer‘s chilling The Act of Killing, which focuses on former members of Indonesian death squads.
