LONDON – U.K. movie sales and finance banner The Works International is teaming up with Jeff Berg’s Resolution to tout North American rights to British curry comedy Jadoo during the upcoming Marche du Film.
Berg and co took on worldwide sales duties to Amit Gupta‘s culinary comedy during this year’s European Film Market in Berlin and will now partner with the Works to steer a U.S. and Canada deal.
The Works International will also land in Cannes hoping to ink international deals on psychological thriller Snap, directed by Youssef Delara and Victor Teran, starring Dustin Hoffman’s son Jake Hoffman and Nikki Reed (Twilight).
XYZ has North American rights to the picture which unspooled at this year’s SXSW and details the story of a brilliant but painfully introverted musician who develops a crush on a young social worker which ends in shocking and tragic results.
And The Works also said it has added a duo of documentaries to its sales slate including Teenage, based on a book by the punk author Jon Savage and narrated by actors including Jena Malone (Hunger Games) and Ben Whishaw (Skyfall).
Preferred Content is handling North America on the documentary made by Savage, Jacqui Edenbrow and the executive producer of Beasts of The Southern Wild, Philipp Engelhorn of Cinereach.
Directed by Matt Wolf (High Line Stories), the doc mixes archival material, filmed portraits and voices lifted from early 20th Century diary entries to explore the birth of the “teenager”, as a struggle erupts between adults and adolescents to define a new idea of youth.
The Works has also boarded Shooting Bigfoot from Bafta-winning British director Morgan Matthews (The Fallen).
Produced by Claire Voyce (The Fallen, The Dark Side of Porn) and financed in conjunction with the British Film Institute and BBC Storyville, the doc details Matthews’ search for passionate Bigfoot hunters in the U.S.
