TORONTO – A Canadian man who hacked into Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen’s computer to seize and release nude photos has pleaded guilty to charges of mischief and possession of stolen property.
Christopher David Long, 25, of Abbotsford, British Columbia, made the unanticipated plea before a scheduled arraignment hearing on Tuesday.
The Vancouver police in December 2012 first announced charges against Long for criminal harassment.
Those charges followed nude photos of Jepsen appearing online, which prompted a search by the police for the source of the leak after a complaint from the “Call Me Maybe” singer’s management team.
Long initially faced five charges, including unauthorized use of a computer and fraudulently obtaining telecommunications services.
Jepsen comes from Mission, British Columbia.
