The third season of Game of Thrones seems to be defying viewership trends that so often see cable series’ ratings dip between premiere and finale. For the fourth week in a row, and the fifth time this season, the HBO drama has nabbed another ratings record.

Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones averaged 5.5 million viewers in its inaugural 9 p.m. play, topping all cable broadcasts. That’s up from the previous week’s 5.35 million viewers. And Game of Thrones saw another notable victory for the night. Across two plays, the series grossed 6.8 million viewers. That’s up from the previous top nightly haul achieved with three plays during the March premiere (6.7 million viewers).
This season of Game of Thrones is currently averaging a cumulative haul of 13.4 million viewers, factoring in originals, repeat broadcasts, DVR, HBO Go and On Demand.
